Capacity Building Workshops
The Reef Hub runs practical, hands-on workshops designed to grow the skills of our diverse network. Our training is shaped by the needs of practitioners on the ground, building confidence and capability to monitor, identify and care for local reefs.
Stay tuned for upcoming workshops, or get in touch if there's a training need you'd like us to address.
Coral ID Workshops

In partnership with Russell Kelley, we offer two-day coral identification workshops open to the Reef Hub network. Participants learn the fundamentals of coral ID and how to use the Coral Finder to identify hard corals to genus level — practical skills that can be applied directly at dive sites, restoration projects and long-term monitoring programs.
On-water Workshops

Some of the most valuable learning happens out on the reef itself. Our on-water workshops bring scientists, managers and on-ground practitioners together in the field, creating space to share knowledge, learn about reef stewardship techniques, and ground scientific work in the lived experience of people who are on the water every day.
Reef Foundations Training

Our two-day Reef Foundations workshop, delivered with Russell Kelley, was designed specifically for First Nations Rangers. Participants built skills in reef life identification and reef health monitoring, grounded in the context of caring for Country. The training was complemented by on-Country days to Wunyami (Green Island) and Yule Point, to put skills into practise.
